Workshop Weekend 2019: July 25 – 28
Four days in our air-conditioned studios at the height of the summer Arts season here in Santa Fe. Mornings: wheel-throwing with Theo Helmstadter, or Afternoons: graphite & charcoal drawing with Chelsie Murfee – or sign up for both! Each workshop provides three daily instructional hours in the studio. We will also find time for field trips, gallery visits, & independent work time.
Our goals will be inspiration, new ideas & encounters with beautiful art, enriched technical skills & design sensibility. Great if you have an on-going studio practice or a job teaching art – and the course provides 30 hours of professional development if you are teaching in the Public Schools & maintaining your licence – or, the weekend is also great if you are fairly new to art & seeking an inspiring immersive experience. Each of the first three days will have three hours of instructional time, and the fourth day, Sunday July 28, is Open Studio with both teachers available for coaching, critique, continued work. Wrap up your projects on this final day, or, if you need to make it to the airport, fine to leave a little early. Clay people will have the opportunity to glaze some of their bisque-fired work on Sunday.
Our first field trip on Thursday July 25 will be to this fine, rare, home & contemporary ceramics collection near Santa Fe.
